🚀 Getting Started
How do I create an account? ▼
Open the app or visit
managekarate.web.app/app, tap
Sign Up, enter your email and password, and verify your email. You'll be set up as an Admin account with full control.
What is the difference between Admin, Co-Admin, and Viewer? ▼
Admin has full control — create tournaments, manage students, add co-admins, delete data, and access all features. Co-Admin is assigned by the Admin to help run specific tatamis — they can score matches and update results but cannot delete data independently. Viewer can watch live match scores (requires tournament access purchase).
Can I use the app on multiple devices? ▼
Yes. Admin accounts can be logged in on multiple devices simultaneously. Co-Admin accounts can also be used on any device. All data syncs in real time through the cloud.
How do I change the app language? ▼
Go to Settings → Language in the app. Available languages are English, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam. The change takes effect immediately.
👥 Students & Import
How do I import students from Excel? ▼
Go to Students → Import. Download the template first, fill it with student data (Name, Belt, Age, Weight, Gender, Club), then tap Import Excel. Duplicate names are automatically detected and skipped. Free accounts can import up to 50 students total.
What columns does the Excel template need? ▼
The template includes:
Name (required),
Belt,
Age,
Weight (kg),
Gender (Boys/Girls),
Team Name,
Kata (yes/no),
Kumite (yes/no).
⬇ Download Excel Template
How do I reassign chest numbers? ▼
Go to Students and tap Renumber. This reassigns chest numbers in order (1, 2, 3…), filling any gaps caused by deleted students. A confirmation dialog appears before changes are made.
🏆 Tournament Setup
How do I create a tournament? ▼
From the home screen, tap Create Tournament. Enter the event name, date, venue, and host. Set up your age categories, weight categories, belt groups, and tatamis. Once configured, go to tournament sets to create your brackets.
What is a Tournament Set? ▼
A Set is a single bracket/event — for example "U-18 Male Under 60kg Kumite" or "Senior Female Kata". Each set has participants, generates matches, and produces a winner. You can have unlimited sets per tournament.
How do I shuffle/generate the brackets? ▼
Open a tournament set and tap Generate Bracket. Participants are randomly shuffled into the bracket. You can regenerate as many times as needed before the event starts.
Can I run kumite and kata in the same tournament? ▼
Yes. Create separate sets for kumite and kata. Assign each set to a tatami. Both types can run simultaneously on different tatamis during the same event.
⚔️ Scoring Matches
How does kumite scoring work? ▼
Open the live match screen for the active set. Tap AKA or AO side buttons to add scores (Yuko/Waza-ari/Ippon) and penalties (Chukoku, Keikoku, Hansoku Chui, Hansoku, Shikkaku). Senshu is tracked automatically. The app determines the winner when the match ends.
Can I undo a score entry? ▼
Yes. Each score button has a corresponding undo/decrement button. You can reduce any score or penalty count during an active match.
What happens if the internet drops during a match? ▼
Scores are saved locally in offline mode. An indicator appears when you're offline. All data syncs automatically to the cloud once connectivity is restored. No match data is lost.
🎌 Kata Events
How are kata scores entered? ▼
Open the kata event and select the participant. Enter judge scores individually. The app calculates the total automatically, applying the configured deduction rules. Scores are saved per round.
What kata scoring formats are supported? ▼
The app supports multiple formats configurable per tournament including standard point scoring and deduction-based scoring. Set the format in Tournament Details → Kata Format before creating events.
👤 Co-Admin
How do I add a co-admin? ▼
Go to Settings → Co-Admins → Add Co-Admin. Enter the co-admin's email address (they must already have a Karate Tournament App account). Assign them to a specific tatami. They will see the tournament on their next login.
What can a co-admin do vs what only an admin can do? ▼
Co-admin can: Score matches, update kata scores, view all tournament data, manage their assigned tatami. Only Admin can: Delete any data, create/edit tournament structure, add/remove co-admins, access billing and settings, export reports.
📤 Export & Reports
How do I export results to Excel? ▼
Go to Reports → Export Excel. Choose what to export: full student list, tournament results, or bracket data. On web the file downloads directly. On Android you can save to device or share via WhatsApp/email.
Can I generate winner certificates? ▼
Yes (Premium feature). Go to Reports → Certificates. Select the tournament set and position. Certificates are generated as PDF and can be printed or shared digitally.
⭐ Premium & Billing
How do I upgrade to Premium? ▼
Go to Settings → Subscription and tap Upgrade to Premium. Pay via Google Play — it is a one-time payment of ₹1,000 for 30 days of full access. You can repurchase anytime after it expires.
What is the Wallet system? ▼
The Wallet lets you add points (via in-app purchase) and use them to unlock premium features or tournament viewing access. Points can also be transferred to other users. Check your balance in Settings → Wallet.
Does Premium auto-renew? ▼
No. Premium is a one-time payment — it does not auto-renew. After 30 days it simply expires and you return to the free plan. You can repurchase anytime you need it for your next tournament.
